3:05pm Report of grass fire on the beach near the end of Commercial and Spencer St.
Central Coast Fire, Seal Rock Fire, Yachats Fire, ODF are on scene. About a .25 acre grass fire. Working on keeping it from spreading to nearby trees and homes. Have requested a brush truck from Newport and Lincoln County Sheriff’s for possible evacuation of homes. They are currently evaluating.
3:55pm Fire is contained and no need for evacuation. Will be on scene for awhile doing overhaul. Canceling Newport. LCSO has Commercial and Spencer shut down to traffic.
4:53pm Yachats and Sheriff have cleared. Road still blocked, please avoid the area for a while. Crews are working on hot spots.
6:00pm Fire crews have cleared the scene and the road is open.
