Here's an oldy. In 1930 my great uncle and aunt, Avery & Ruth Heyman opened Newport's first miniature golf course, the Hill Billy Golf Course. Avery owned Tip Top Motors (kitty corner to the old City Hall (pig & pancake). Next door was the golf course enterance as in the picture. (Moby Dicks now a days). The course was behind Hwy 101 entrance back up the hill west towards 7th street. They owned half that block. It lasted only a couple of years as it was a money drain.
