Vehicle Crash

12:52pm – Vehicle into the water on Highway 18, milepost 1. 2 vehicle crash. North Lincoln Fire, 2 Pacific West Ambulance units and Oregon State Police enroute.

12:55pm – medics requesting Life Flight.

12:58pm – Depoe Bay Fire is enroute for coverage in Lincoln City. Launching Life Flight as they have a 36 minute ETA from Newport Airport.

1:01pm – Fire is onscene. Head on collision. Highway 18 is closed. One vehicle in the westbound lane the other vehicle is not into the river but on the other side of highway in a water run off area. Out investigating.

1:04pm – confirming 2 patients. One critical. One stable but critical. OSP is onscene. Critical patient is still in vehicle and they are working on extrication.

1:06pm – first medic is onscene. Life Flight declined due to weather.

1:08pm – Notified Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital of two trauma patients.

1:10pm – patient one is out of the vehicle and prepping for transport.

1:13pm – third trauma patient called out. North Lincoln Fire will also be transporting as well as Pacific West Ambulance.

1:18pm – first medic unit is enroute to the hospital.

1:33pm – Oregon Department of Transportation is onscene.

1:38pm – Highway will be closed for a very extended period of time. Oregon State Police is doing an accident reconstruction. Traffic is being diverting around via N. North Bank Rd.

3:28pm – all fire units have cleared. ODOT has the scene. Still stated that it will be several hours before the highway is open.
